Meet Mia, my friend that slays hair but loves to talk me into doing her make up when she sees me lol!! This time around though… beating her face was my idea.
I’ve been wanting to shoot all of my friends in @shophippiechik products because the women that inspire me are definitely a part of the essence of the brand. It’s my lifestyle…& it’s inclusive of all the people in it!

As a makeup artists….. I would say my aesthetic is always “clean” even when I’m doing glam. I am definitely more of an enhancer and not a transformer, and I adore working with WOC because it always challenges me in terms of mixing and matching foundations because we come in SOOOO many different shades and tones. I’ve coined myself #TheBrownSkinExpert and I have been coined #The Queen of Clean …and I think I can hold both of those titles down pretty well lol.
Now as a visionary…. I end up with this camera in my hand as another way to express myself and bring the vision I have for my store to life. I definitely wouldn’t call myself a photographer yet. But I am enjoying capturing what I feel is beautiful about my friends and the people in my life who inspire me. As I said before …. all of my friends are Hippie Chik muses in my eyes…. I want this lifestyle brand to be something that’s REAL… not on trend, cheap, or portrayed as perfect.
Also… this bracelet is a sterling silver fork that was turned into this magnificent piece of jewelry with a amethyst stone masterfully placed. This piece was handmade by one of my favorite creative OG’s Snakedoctor. If you’ve been to Leimert Park you’ve seen his art and his jewelry. I’ve been buying his jewelry for myself for years and one of the first paintings I’ve ever bought was from him. I love collaborating with real people who amaze me…. being able to sell his pieces on the store and curate so many amazing things from so many amazing artists on this platform is literally a dream and we are making it happen!!! * shameless but honest plug*
