Mereba – “Bet” #MariantheGreat
I always said I wish there was like a positive, inspiring, enlightening alternative to WSHH and degrading reality tv shows, …. and I guess at this point I just want to start picking back up right where I left off a few years ago with my whole magazine concept. I just wanted to highlight artists and creatives that inspired me, and whose art, music, and message exude purpose and world changing intentions. In the midst of me starting that magazine concept, I got so inspired I ended up creating other things that stemmed from that but ended up taking off unexpectedly. So basically… I never had the time to keep up with the magazine lol. But today I say to everyone… including myself… THE TIME IS NOW!!! and my 1st post will be dedicated to a woman who has been a true inspiration to me from the moment I was introduced to her and her music.
As for the twins…. this video is literally my 1st time seeing their work but I met them a few months ago when Mereba did a set at the very event I created that took me away from the magazine lol. It’s called The Crockpot! Anywho….. I fell in love with them merely off of spirit, presence, & personalities! Then I saw them again at a BLM protest and remember the smile I had on my face when I ran into them. I also remember laughing to myself afterwards like why was I just so excited to see them lol! I just knew I like them and their energy, and here I am now in awe of their gifts and talents even more.
I am so moved by creators who literally create with purpose and intention… especially the ones who create from a pure place and for a greater purpose. When I first saw this video I was so captivated by the music and visuals, and how seemingly perfectly it all went together, …. all the while not even paying attention to the actual story line. I was just moved by the way everything was shot. The colors and tones, the shot selections, the casting, the beautiful fucking music… like literally everything about this piece of art is perfect. At this point I’ve watched this video a few more times and I’m even more inspired by the message and story behind this beautiful imagery I had already fallen in love with.
The twins @Durimel and Mereba are truly a representation of Black Excellence in music and culture. In 2016…. this is refreshing to me.
As artists and creators we are vessels. Both art and music are so powerful & universal. We can use it as tools to activate the light in people and to connect us in ways that words just can not explain.
This is the kinda #shitilike !! This is art that breathes life and has purpose! Im inspired… and I know inspiration is contagious! So I just gotta share and pass it along!!! Feel free to do the same!! This song and visual should spread!!!!
